Fiscal Court was right to ban drugs
Synthetic marijuana and herbal incense have proven to be very damaging drugs, especially to several people in our area, so we were glad to see that the Warren County Fiscal Court took the appropriate move by voting to ban them.
On Friday, magistrates voted unanimously on first reading of an ordinance to ban synthetic marijuana, herbal incense products and the chemicals associated with them.

Legal Herb
The use of herbal incense is both sacred and timeless. But even though herbal incense has been used for thousands of years for everything from religious ceremonies to relaxation, the legality of herbal incenses and aromatherapy products has become a subject of intense scrutiny as of late. This is because certain individuals deliberately misuse these products that are clearly labeled, “Not for human consumption.” The consumer is responsible for using the product as it is intended; I would not blame the television manufacturer if I put my head through the screen. Similar accusations are levied against the herbal incense industry. To create a variety of flavors, special herbal oils are applied to the incense; and while this process may allow the incense to burn smoother or produce a more pleasing fragrance, the effects on the human body are unknown and presumably dangerous or harmful. Nonetheless, a small segment of consumers will invariably abuse a product by deliberately misusing it when there is the opportunity, but this does not mean that the government should ban these products. At some point our society has to give the responsibility of making good personal decisions to the people who make those decisions. If the government banned every product for which there was the opportunity for misuse, we’d have no correction fluid, gasoline, or scissors, and such restrictions would erode the very liberties that make our country great.
